When this wine came into the store about a month ago I was immediately intrigued. I discovered Vire-Clesse is a part of the Macon region of Burgundy, home to world-class Chardonnay. I also discovered this wine has scored 90 points from Wine Enthusiast magazine. I finally tried it last night, and it is exceptional. It's light and elegant with a sunny citrus note on the nose and an ethereal wisp of fruit on the palate. LIght-bodied yet finely structured, it delights and surprises with every sip. For me, it was like making a new friend; this wine makes you want more of it. For Thanksgiving, for cheese plates, with fish, and just because. Tres, tres bon.
