Spirit Saturday - Kentucky 2023 Recap Fri, Jun 09, 23 Kentucky; the Bourbon capital of the world. Technically, the United States' native spirit can be made anywhere in the continental US, however, it's generally accepted that the folks in Kentucky do it the best. In a state where more barrels of whiskey lay resting than there are people inhabiting its' lands, Bourbon--and whiskey in general--is king. You can feel it from the moment you land in the Louisville airport with advertisements, bars and gift shops all sporting the latest whiskeys, when it comes to brown spirits, Kentuckians mean business. That's why every year we make a trip down to the Bluegrass State. We center the trip around our plans to select new Maker's Mark Private Select barrels (more on these later) and then mix in several other distilleries to make an all-encompassing barrel selection adventure. This year, our trip was LOADED. We made stops at Lux Row, Jim Beam, Bardstown Bourbon Co., Maker's Mark and finally Limestone Branch. Five distilleries for eight barrel selections all crammed into just under 3 days. Insert your text here By Tyler Duma
