On the Wine Side, it's time to think sunny thoughts about far-away lands where grapes are ripening to produce sun-drenched wines. Australia is just the place. Australia in January is hot and sunny. Sounds lovely, doesn't it? You don't have to get on a plane to experience the climate. You can turn up the heat, put on shorts and sunglasses, and open a bottle of wine from Down Under to bring sunny Australia into your wine glass.We have a great selection of Australian wines, not the least of which include 19 Crimes, Yellowtail, Lindeman's, Yalumba, Jacob's Creek, Penfolds, and more. Shiraz is a signature grape of Australia, and it's a great one to get to know in January as it's a powerhouse red, full of dark fruit, spice and rich aromas. Try the Mrs. Q from Quarisa. It's not hot in Portugal in January, but it's mild, and January is a good time to be transported with Port wine, which often drinks like sunshine in a bottle.
