On the Wine Side - Valentine's Day Wines

Wed, Feb 11, 2026

Happy February!

Is there anything more romantic than dinner by candlelight, the table set just right, a lovely bouquet, and, to bring it all together, a nice bottle of wine?

Valentine's Day is on a Saturday this year, so there are no excuses. And there are so many nice wines!

There's a selection of wines up by our Customer Service desk that includes bottles from around the world to help inspire and delight. Sparkling wine (pink, no less), like the extra-special Veuve Cliquot Rose Champagne from France, or the perky and pretty Brilla Prosecco from Italy. There are some fun and refreshing whites; some food-friendly roses; reds ranging from a Spanish Garnacha (Evodia), to a Merlot from Robert Mondavi, to the Dark Red Diablo from Casillero del Diablo in Chile. You'll find the Apothic wines with names like Crush, Inferno, and Dark, if those inspire you.

In Wineology on February 11, the wines were selected to reflect stages of love, with the G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge chosen for New Love, 1000 Stories 16.5% Cabernet chosen for Passionate Love, the Harris Parker Winemaker's Reserve Chardonnay chosen for Comfortable Love, and the 2022 Chateau Lafont Menaut Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux for Enduring Love.

I couldn't resist asking ChatGPT to write a poem about styles of wine that reflect stages of love, and here's what I got:
